What payment methods do you accept?

• We accept payment by most major credit (including Amex), debit or charge cards where the cardholder is registered at a UK address.
• Please ensure that the expiry date of your credit/debit card is after the anticipated dispatch date of your order. Payment will be debited from your account just before the dispatch of your goods, and if your payment card has expired, we will be unable to take payment and fulfil your order (UK only).
• We also accept payment by Halfords Gift Cards online, in our stores and/or in our garages.
• We regret that we are unable to accept payment by high street vouchers, Bacs, purchase orders or any other form of payment other than credit/debit cards or Halfords Gift Cards when shopping online.
• Please note that we don’t accept personal cheques and business cheques that are guaranteed by Transax are only accepted in our Irish stores.
• We would like to announce we have added the addition of Apple will now be an accepted form of payment on our website. This will allow for a simpler way to purchase your order when checking out. 
• From 7th August we will accept ClearPay as a payment method in our stores. This fantastic payment method is really easy to use, you can simply load the balance onto your ClearPay account on your personal device ahead of purchasing the products/services you wish!

Validation checks (UK only)

All credit, debit and charge card holders are subject to validation checks and authorisation by their card issuer.

Please note: If the issuer of your payment card refuses to authorise payment to us, we will not be liable for any delay or non-delivery.

In the interests of preventing fraudulent use of credit, debit and charge cards, we may instruct a third party to validate the names, addresses and other information supplied during the order process against commercially available records (e.g., Electoral Roll data, Credit Reference Services). We may need to contact you by letter, telephone or email to verify details before we are able to process and dispatch your order or we may be unable to accept your order.

Your card issuer may also contact you to verify the payment being made, this is known as ‘Strong Customer Authentication’. You should ensure that your contact details are up to date with your card issuer, so they can get in contact with you to verify the payment.

Liability

Most card issuers cover all the charges that may result from unauthorised use of your credit card or debit cards, but some may limit your liability to £50. If you believe your credit or debit card has been subject to unauthorised use, you should contact your card issuer without delay.

If you're eligible for finance, you'll be able to pay for your purchase over a longer period of time. We offer several different options, including interest-free. How does it work?

On the payment page, simply select PayPal as your chosen payment method and you will be directed to a login screen. Once you have logged in, you will see all your order details and be asked to confirm payment. On confirming payment, you will then be presented with your order confirmation page on Halfords.com.

You will receive an email from Halfords.com confirming your order, and two further emails from PayPal, one notifying that you have authorised a payment on your PayPal account, and one to confirm payment once we have dispatched the order.
