Choosing a fire extinguisher for your vehicle
It is not illegal to not have a fire extinguisher in your private car, caravan or motorhome, but it's wise to equip yourself with one.
Fires fall into six classes, based on what caused/powers them. It could involve live electrics, gasses, cooking oil/fat, petrol/diesel etc. The majority of fire extinguishers can only be used for specific classes of fire, and this will be shown on the device.
The type of extinguisher you need will also depend on the vehicle you intend it for as some are not suitable for more confined spaces.
